As an Artist I endeavour to capture a personal feeling/essence of a particular place. I find witnessing extreme weather conditions , especially the energy and movement, very appealing.  I am particularly drawn to the sea especially in stormy weather. 

Spending time at the location brings ideas for different texture and mark making. I paint on location, usually in gouache, but mainly I use my sketches, photographs and notes to complete the work in the studio.  To get a desired finish I sometimes add collage, inks, acrylics or oil paint for semi-abstract mixed media pieces.  Sketch books are very important to me for stimulation and motivation as part of the creative procress including life drawing images.
